Meet Jon Callaway
With nearly a decade of experience in special education, I have dedicated my career to helping students with disabilities access meaningful educational opportunities and build successful futures.
As a special education teacher in Central Texas, I have worked alongside students, families, and school teams to navigate IEPS, evaluations, transition planning, executive functioning challenges, and educational decision-making.
I founded Together Texas because I believe families deserve knowledgable, practical support from someone who understands both the educational system and the unique needs of students with disabilities.
My approach will always be a collaborative one. My ultimate goal is to set students up for success in and outside of school. That means working to create a positive relationships across support systems in order to establish more meaningful outcomes. Whether supporting families through the special education process or helping student develop executive functioning skills, my goal is to provide guidance that empowers families and promotes long-term solutions and success.
Educational Background
I am originally from the Chicago area where I attended Wheaton College and studied secondary education, social sciences, and special education. Immediately upon graduation, I attended the University of Illinois and received my Masters in Special Education. My family made the move to Central Texas in the Spring of 2020 when I took a behavior support teaching role at a local high school. Since then, I have facilitated or attended hundreds of ARD meetings, written and advised countless Individualized Education Programs (IEP), taken on various leadership positions and built many meaningful relationships with students and families.
Why I Started Together Texas
Many advocates and private educational coaches are passionate about decreasing parent anxiety around the Special Education process. The meetings, planning, and paperwork are undoubtedly overwhelming tasks to handle without support. Navigating those alongside parents just scratches the surface behind what Together Texas is. I created Together Texas to bridge the gap between families and school by providing practical guidance, effective instruction, and collaborative advocacy that lead to meaningful post-secondary outcomes. My goal is not to create conflict — I believe the best outcomes are often achieved through strong communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to student success. As an educator, I have had the privilege to see families through the initial evaluation all the way to graduation. Together Texas was built on the idea that there was more we could do to support young people with disabilities and that each family deserves access to a trusted partner who can help navigate challenges and understand options in order to move forward with confidence.
